Soffit, Fascia & Gutter Repair in Port Jervis
Port Jervis is a city of about 8,700 people at the western end of Orange County, where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania meet at the confluence of the Delaware and Neversink rivers. It grew with the Erie Railroad and the Delaware and Hudson Canal, and its streets are lined with Victorian houses built for railroad workers, merchants, and managers from the 1870s through the 1910s, many climbing the hillside above the river.
The city has a long record of flooding along the rivers, and a steep, hard winter on the hills.
A typical Port Jervis Victorian has a tall main roof, steep and gabled, with a front porch wrapped across the ground floor and covered by its own much shallower roof. The two roofs are stacked, one directly above the other, with the porch roof catching everything the main roof sheds. Soffit Fascia Guys inspects free across Orange County, and the result in winter is predictable: snow loosens on the steep roof, slides in a sheet, and lands on the porch roof below, taking its gutter with it.
The gutter on a porch roof is small and lightly fixed, and a slab of snow bends it flat. Our gutter repair straightens and re-secures damaged runs, and snow guards on the main roof above, which hold the snow in smaller pieces, protect the repair.
The porch roof itself is a weak point. Its shallow pitch holds snow and ice, and where the main wall meets the porch roof, the flashing is exposed to whatever slides down. Water that gets behind it enters the wall, the porch ceiling, and the house.
Our soffit and fascia repair renews the porch eave and ceiling when they have been damaged, and our ice dam damage repair restores the edge after a hard winter. Neighbouring Middletown and Narrowsburg have much the same weather.
Port Jervis's hills also make access difficult. Houses sit on steep streets above the river, and ladders and lifts need level ground that is not always there. Staging, roof access, or a ladder from the porch roof itself are common solutions.
The Victorian trim, with its brackets, shaped fascia, and ornamental gables, is worth keeping where it can be, and we repair in kind. Our aluminum fascia capping is used on plain runs only. A free inspection covers the whole roofline, and the estimate is itemised.
What Fails First on Port Jervis Homes
Port Jervis's railroad-era Victorians climb steep hillsides above the Delaware. These are the four things we find first.
- Porch roof gutters crushed by sliding snow
Snow slides off the steep main roof onto the porch roof below and takes the small gutter with it.
- Porch eave and ceiling soaked
A shallow porch roof holds ice. Water backs into the thin eave and the beadboard ceiling.
- Flashing at the porch-to-wall joint
Exposed to every slide, it lifts and lets water behind into the wall.
- Ornate trim with many joints
Brackets, shaped fascia, and gable ornament give water plenty of ways in.
Soffit & Fascia Repair Cost in Port Jervis
Port Jervis houses are tall, with 130 to 280 linear feet of roofline, and hillside access adds to the cost. These are installed prices.
| Job | Typical Range | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Porch gutter repair | $200–$800 | Straightened run, new hangers into solid wood |
| Porch eave and ceiling repair | $450–$1,800 | Fascia, soffit, and beadboard renewed, flashing checked |
| Fascia replacement (one elevation) | $1,700–$4,800 | New board in profile, gutter re-hung |
| Full soffit and fascia replacement | $4,800–$11,500 | Whole roofline in one visit; steep sites priced with staging |
Snow guards on the main roof are quoted separately. The free inspection gives you an itemised number. See the statewide cost guide for baseline numbers.
How Port Jervis Roofline Damage Differs from the Rest of New York
Most roofs shed snow onto the ground. A stacked Victorian sheds it onto another roof, and that roof wasn't built to take it.
The damage is concentrated on the porch, where the weight lands, and it repeats every thaw.
Railroad Victorians, Rivers and Hills
The city sits where three states meet and two rivers join, on steep ground. Houses are tall, streets are narrow, and level space for equipment is scarce.
We plan access in advance and price any staging separately, so you can see where the cost goes.
